As a former teacher, I can't imagine not including parents in any aspect of a child's education. Children are the responsibility of the parent and the parent only. Teacher need to respect that boundary and stop stepping over the line.
Nancy Biederman, New Bostonsupports
The OCA opposes HB235, as written, as it may have a chilling effect on the relationship between children and teachers, guidance counselors, or other school staff who are often a trusted support for children outside of their parents, especially if children are in dangerous home situations.
Lissa Mascio, Concord · NH Office of the Child Advocateopposes
The responsibility of an educator is to a student not the parents. Parents can homeschool and or work on curriculum approval with the board of ed or local school board. However the students must remain the center focus of education.
Erica Hall, Loudonopposes
I strongly oppose the vague nature of this bill. It appears to be opening a pathway for the state to require roles of teachers which are currently not their role and highly politicized.
Ben Schwartz, Doveropposes
